I am a huge fan of the musical Wicked. The music is all so beautiful and catchy and fun to sing along to. I love listening to them. All the performers have such amazing voices. However, I have never seen the musical. I have almost gone on several occasions, but something has always come up, or the tickets were all sold or something, preventing me from seeing it. Almost ever since the soundtrack came out I have wanted to see the musical. There is something so exciting about back stories. Something that connects to what is familiar, but to a whole new level. Seeing things from a new perspective and seeing what caused things to be the way that we all know them to be. I have been able to sort of tell what goes on, a basic plot line, but not much more. Sure, I could look up a plot summary, and then maybe the words would all make sense, but I feel that that would drain from the excitement of actually seeing the musical, and seeing it all come into place. I feel like this is sort of similar to what happened with Hamilton. So many broadway fans were constantly listening to the soundtrack, but due to the expense of the tickets, only few were able to see it and actually get a sense of what is going on. I think that it is exciting to not read a synopsis, so that the virtue of the theaters is kept, and the excitement remains.
I am a constant user of Spotify, but my cheap self does not have Spotify Premium. The defaults of not having Spotify Premium are not being able to pick the song you listen to, not having your music downloaded, and of course, advertisements. Most of these ads are for Spotify Premium, and these ads are so annoying. Sometimes, I have to leave the room when these ads come on. At first, I just thought that Spotify was just bad at advertising, and that the ads were really annoying. Then my music would turn back on, and I wouldn’t think much else of it. After we began analyzing ads, I realized the genius of these insanely annoying ads. People are so much more likely to pay to get rid of ads when the ads are so bad that can’t even be listened to. These ads are bad on purpose so that people will pay for Spotify Premium, and get rid of them. When people hear “no ad interruptions” at the end of a painful ad, it doesn’t even matter what else was said about Spotif...

I am also a big fan of Wicked. I used to listen to the soundtrack nonstop, dreaming of the day that I could see the play with my own eyes. I have seen this musical twice, and each time I was astonished at how amazing the live performance truly was. Yet I relate to you, as I absolutely love the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack, and I cannot wait to see it in real life. Tickets are expensive and always sold out, but I hope that I can one day see it as well.
